I've been going to the gym for about 8 years now, and if there's one thing that's certain it's that not one routine works for everybody. Sometimes you just have to experiment to see what works for you.
Last year I was fat and weighed around 225 lbs. I was lifting the whole time but I was still overweight and no matter how much I lifted or how little I ate I couldn't lose the fat. I was looking for ways to lose weight and the fitness drones at the gym kept preaching a low fat diet. I was already on a low fat diet but it did jack shit for me. My mom is a nurse and she said that some people are more sensitive to their carb intake, so I tried modulating my carb intake instead. I went on a low carb diet and I lost 60 lbs and kept it off. For my body, carbs is what did me in, and cutting out carbs (even though my caloric intake is much higher now due to more fat) is keeping me lean.
